Putting People First During The Holidays

At Heritage Properties, our mission is spelled out clearly – “We put people first”. And while this is important to us year-round, it also emphasizes the importance of giving back to our surrounding communities and neighbors any way we can during the holiday season. We invite our staff and residents to help spread joy to families in need through several food, clothing, and toy drives throughout this time of year.

This fall, a handful of our residential communities took part in a food drive for the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. Boxes were set out in participating building lobbies to collect canned goods and non-perishable items, and residents were also able to donate virtually if preferred through a designated Amazon Wish List for the food bank’s “Gobble Up Hunger Thanksgiving Drive.”

Last month, Grant Mill participated in a coat drive for the “Buy Nothing Day” Coat Exchange and collected new and gently used coats, hats, gloves, mittens, sweaters and sweatshirts for people of all ages and sizes. While this clothing drive may be over, you can still help “spread the warmth” by dropping off any personal donations in-person at one of their collection sites. Head to their website to find a collection site near you! You can also donate online through their GoFundMe page.

From now through December 13th, a handful of our communities will also be participating in a Toys for Tots Toy Drive. You can help spread hope this holiday season by dropping off a new toy in the lobby of Grant Mill (299 Carpenter St in Providence, RI) or Waterhead (850 Lawrence Street in Lowell, MA). If you’re not located in Lowell or Providence, online donations are always accepted through the Toys for Tots Virtual Toy Box which you can access here.

Each year, our Heritage Properties offices choose local non-profits to give a charitable contribution to for the holiday season. This year, we’re happy to announce that our corporate team will be donating to two local charities: The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell, an afterschool program that encourages and empowers young people to achieve their dreams, and House of Hope, a non-profit that helps homeless families in Massachusetts gain stable housing.

Thank you for supporting our team as we continue to put people first and care for those in need. We hope you and your families have a safe and happy holiday season!
