At Heritage Properties, we are committed to our local communities across New England. Every year, our team plans volunteer days, seeking out community-based groups that align with our core mission of “putting people first”. This June, we had the opportunity to partner with two organizations that are making a significant impact - from ensuring widespread access to nutritious food to supporting student education for a successful future.
Earlier this summer, our team in Lowell, MA volunteered with Mill City Grows, an urban food justice organization that serves Lowell residents through gardening, markets, and educational initiatives. Our team spent the afternoon at their nearby four-acre Urban Farm in Pawtucketville, where we rolled up our sleeves to help out with some weeding and gardening. Their Urban Farm Program produces more than 30,000 pounds of fresh produce every single year - growing all of the seasonal fruits and vegetables that Mill City Grows provides to the community through mobile markets, food shares, and the Massachusetts Healthy Incentives Program (HIP).
Mill City Grows provides a variety of volunteer opportunities, from working alongside their farmers to building garden beds and preparing food for their markets. To learn more or sign up for a future volunteer event, visit their website at www.millcitygrows.org!
Later in June, our team in Providence, RI dedicated a day to volunteering at The UCAP School. Opened in 1989, the UCAP School offers programs, counseling, and career education to help middle school students prepare for their successful transition into high school. UCAP’s approach is essential to our community - partnering with school districts to ensure each student receives the tools and support they need for success. During our Rhode Island volunteer day, our team assisted the UCAP crew on a range of activities and tasks to help them prepare for the beginning of the upcoming school year. We spent an afternoon tidying up common areas and classrooms, conducting some summer locker clean-outs, and gardening around the school grounds.

Thank you again to Mill City Grows and The UCAP School for two successful and gratifying volunteer days this summer. As always, we are so grateful for the opportunity to support local organizations that reflect our company mission of "putting people first”.
